7 ways, 3D printing will change the world

3D Printing Technology applications are almost in every industries in the world due to that lot of investment and research is being done. It has been widely used to develop prototype from scratch to replacement of machine parts. It is widely used in footwear, fashion design, construction, automotive industries and in the aerospace industry. In fact, at the rate it is going, 3D printing being one of the most promising technology that could change the world. To know how 3D Printing will change the world please read my blog till the end.

Myself Ravindra Gavde, Next Gen 3D Guide, founder of Facebook group "Mission 3D for Generation Next" and my mission is to prepare career seeking 10000 students for future opportunities in 3D Printing.

1 - Replacement available 24/7

Best part of 3D printing to the world is any part can be made available 24/7. Instead of storing the part, just by placing order you can print a part and deliver at your doorstep. You can print exact number of pieces you need, rather than buying in bulk. There are many 3D printing websites that gives you everyday use part to 3D print.

2 - Automaker using 3D Printing

Biggest advantage of 3D printing is that it can be used for rapid prototyping. Car manufacture uses 3D printing to create custom, complex and higher performance parts. Many car manufacturers are using advanced metal 3D printing technology to create for more detailed, micro-scale precision parts. In future, you could eventually just 3D print the car of your dreams, rather than simply go out and buy a car.

3 - 3D Printed Homes

All over the world the cost of home are increasing day by day. Many people are actively trying to reduce the carbon footprint in many ways possible, including the construction of their homes. 3D printed homes are more eco-friendly, zero waste, no transportation cost and can be recycled. In many developing country are building low-cost 3D printed house almost 10 houses a day at low cost as $ 5000 (3.75 Lakhs) in a small space. Their process uses “ink” made from fiber glass, steel, cement, binder and recycled ruble.

4 - Custom Apparel

Made to order Apparel can be 3D printed, for example if a shoe size is between 6 and 7, you can 3D print as per your size. That 3D printed shoe gives special strength and lightness to the shoes, made up of carbon fiber 3D printed material. The same analogy goes to 3D printed clothes. You can design your own clothes too. Maybe one day 3D printing will replace traditional textiles.

5 - 3D printed food

Oil and powder cartridges will be used to create nutritional meals with regular required calories. This will reduce food waste considerable as a cartridges will have a 25 + years of shelf life. Some printer today are used to print chocolate, simple candies and even a pizza.

6 - Prosthetics will be cheaper

Free editable designs are even available online for prosthetists and amateurs. Anyone can, who has 3D printer and has do it yourself mentality can create a prosthetics at low cost. Prosthetic arms, hands, legs and feet can be made.

7 - Use in space Station

To go at space station it takes lot of fuel and preparation and whenever something goes wrong in space, there may be limited spare parts available there. Till that part is arrived astronauts may need to wait till the next mission to space. Alternative to this is with 3D printer on space, they can print part there itself or other items as and when needed during emergency. Even 3D printed food supplies for astronauts is manageable.

This list is largely incomplete. There are many ways 3D printing will change the world and will continue to update it.
